Our Goal: Working with parents to give children loving, quality care, and help them develop a love of learning by providing a nurturing Christian environment; meeting their individual educational, social, and emotional needs.
At Love & Learn Christian Preschool, it is our privilege to partner with parents in laying the foundation for faith development. It is our goal to help children develop a positive, loving, and caring image of GOD, by modeling those qualities. The early childhood years are crucial for the sound spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of every child. We founded Love & Learn Christian Preschool to address those needs and provide all of our students with a top quality, CHRIST-CENTERED education filled with love, affirmation, learning, and fun.
OUR PROGRAM INCLUDES:
Preschool will be in session Monday - Thursday, from 8:15 to 11 AM. Tuition is $120 per month. An enrollment fee of $60 (non-refundable) is due at time of enrollment. This fee will be credited to the last month’s (May) tuition. The supply fee for the year is $30, due by the first day of school.
Preschool with Daycare
Another great advantage to sending your child to Love & Learn is that we have a daycare on-site. Your child can smoothly transition from preschool in the morning to daycare in the afternoon without worrying about transportation. The cost for daycare is $80 per week. If you are interested in combining preschool with daycare, let us know when you enroll for preschool.

Val has been the Director of Christian Education at Lamar UMC since June of 2000. Before that, she founded, co-owned, operated, and taught at Ready, Set, Grow Preschool in Joplin. When she and her husband Bernie moved back to Lamar, she started a preschool for 3 year olds in her home, which continued until she came on staff at LUMC. She has a Bachelors Degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood. Val enjoys reading, walking with friends, and planning parties and events. But her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her wonderful family, that she adores.
Joyce is married to Scott Phipps, and they have a daughter, Lexi. She enjoys reading, going to coffee shops, doing puzzles, spending time with her daughter, and playing board and card games with her family.
Joyce has over 25 years of teaching experience as an educator in the public school system. She maintains a Bachelors of Science in Education, and a Masters of Science in Multi-Disciplinary Education. She taught first grade in the Independence, MO Public School District prior to getting married and moving to Lamar and teaching at East Primary. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue impacting the lives of children as the teacher of Love & Learn Preschool.
Suzanne and her husband Jerry are long-time residents of Lamar. They have three wonderful, married daughters, and five amazing grandchildren. She is a graduate of Missouri Southern with a degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Masters of Education from Pittsburg State University. She taught preschool in Lamar for thirteen years and retired in 2006. She enjoys playing golf, baking, and reading, but most of all, she loves spending time with her grandchildren.
JoJo Compton and her husband Larry have lived in Lamar for 32 years, where they own and operate the Compton family farm with Larry’s family. They have 4 grown children-Lucas and his wife Lacy who live in Lamar, where Lucas also farms and Lacy works at Farm Credit Services in Nevada; Landon and his wife Chynna who reside in St. Louis, Mo, where Landon just began working at Boeing as a flight test engineer and Chynna as a registered nurse; Jesse who is a full-time student at Pittsburg State University studying Wood Technology (fine cabinetry and furniture making); and Lauren who is beginning her first semester at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, where she plans to pursue a Physical Therapy degree and is playing volleyball. JoJo is very active in ministry at Oakton United Methodist Church, where she hosts several weekly bible studies, is coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, is a Youth counselor and teaches abstinence/sexual purity classes. She has a degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education and taught for 7 years in public schools before having children and becoming a stay-at-home mom. She is anticipating the joy of grandchildren someday and is learning how to adapt to an empty nest!
